Convocation Remarks by Damon Y. Smith, MUP '95

Professor Damon Y. Smith teaches local government and property law at Rutgers School of Law-Camden. After earning a Masters in Urban Planning from Illinois in 1995, he served as founding director of the University of Illinois East St. Louis Neighborhood Technical Assistance Center from 1996-1999. Professor Smith received a JD from Harvard Law School in 2002 and worked as a real estate associate for the Washington D.C. law firm of Arnold & Porter. On the faculty of Rutgers School of Law-Camden since 2006, he also serves as Faculty Fellow for the Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs and a member of the Obama campaign’s Metropolitan and Urban Policy Committee.

He has titled his convocation remarks: "From Housing Bubbles to Stimulus Packages: The Role of Planners in Economic Recovery."
